Update on Home Invasion on Friday, March 25, 2011 -- Last Suspect Arrested and in Custody
Update on Home Invasion from Friday, March 25th Last Suspect Arrested and In Custody this afternoon
On Friday, March 25, 2011 at approximately 11:20 a.m. a home invasion type burglary occurred in Hunters Creek. The offense occurred in the 10900 block of Long Shadow Lane at Trails End (off Voss Rd). A dark colored Jaguar had pulled into the driveway in front of the residence. The front doorbell rang. The vehicle then backed into the driveway on the side of the house. The female resident heard glass breaking at the rear of the residence and male voices inside her home.
The resident reacted just as we would have hoped. She picked up the cordless cell phone, ran and tried to lock the doors behind her leading into the bedroom and bathroom. She immediately called 911. Our officers responded immediately.
Our officers arrived and observed suspects fleeing from the residence. Officers pursued the suspects while another officer checked the residence, located the victim, and determined she was unharmed. We obtained assistance from the Spring Valley Police Department, Hedwig Village Police Department, and the Houston Police Department. With our agencies working together we were able to capture three of the suspects in close proximity to the Long Shadow Lane residence very quickly. The suspects were arrested and charged with Burglary of a Habitation.
The fourth suspect had been observed running from the scene of the offense by one of our officers. Our officer chased the suspect, catching up to him in a neighbor's backyard. The officer tried to take the suspect into custody. The suspect fought with our officer. During the fight the officer and suspect broke through a wooden fence. The suspect broke free and ran from the area. Officers from the different agencies continued for the next few hours searching for this fourth suspect. The suspect got away.
Based on continued investigative efforts, this last suspect was subsequently positively identified. The Harris County District Attorney's Office accepted charges on him for Burglary of a Habitation and issued a warrant for his arrest. This suspect was taken into custody this afternoon and is now in jail.
None of the suspects live in close proximity to the Villages. The suspects are as follows:
Anthony William Lindsey, a black male 28 years old.
Kenneth Ray Murphy, a black male 22 years old.
Derrick Eugene Delane, a black male 19 years old.
(4th suspect) Karnard Qunite Bailey, a black male 28 years old.
Please remember that even though we live in a very safe area, it is extremely important to remain vigilant and mindful of your surroundings. Do not hesitate to report suspicious activity to the police department.
Gary M. Brye, Chief of Police
Memorial Villages Police Department
